Summer Service Trip 2011 -  Renovation of Ermita Maria Auxiliadora

We have been asked by the elders of a barrio just east of the town to assist with the repair of the roof of their Roman Catholic Church and to paint the inside walls that have been damaged by water.  We have informed the elders that we would match funds that they are able to raise to have the roof repairs made and that we would arrive in August to do the painting ourselves.  The roof repairs were estimated to cost about $5,200 so that we needed to raise $2,600 to fulfill our obligation.

We visited the church elders in early August of 2011.  They were disappointed to inform us that they were not successful in raising sufficient funds to match the LPD contribution.  We obtained a new quote for the repairs that does not include a drop ceiling and has a lower quality of electrical system upgrade.  The new quote is approximately $3,400 so that the parishioners of Ermita Maria Auxiliadora will now need to raise $1,700 instead of the original $2,600.  Because this is an election year, they are hopeful that politicians will be willing to make contributions.  We have allowed until mid-November to raise the funds at which time our matching offer will be withdrawn if they have not met their goal.

Please help us get to the $1,700 that we will need to make this happen.

We have reached $1325 as of August 10, 2011!!!
